Esbjerg for children

For those who love water
The Swimming Stadium in Esbjerg is just the thing. Here you will find lots of activities, such as a wave pool, a pool for children and babies, a water chute, a canal with counter current, a five-meter diving tower, rubber beach toys etc.

Maritime Experiences
At the Fisheries and Maritime Museum you can take a close look at the fish and fauna of the North Sea, see the fishing vessels, a beach landing place, life saving station, dunes, harbour environment and admire the elegant seals , which are fed daily at 11.00 and 14.30.
Summer activities for children in and outside the museum including functioning workshops and open laboratory. Children will also enjoy the museum’s trips on the tidal beaches, where they can empty the fish traps and learn about the creatures that have been caught.

Say hello to a deer
in the Deer Park “Nørreskoven” or take the children on a tour in “Vognsbølparken” to get some fresh air and see the ducks, the moorhens and the goats.

At sea
Go on a harbour boat trip on board M/S Sønderho and get close to the fishing cutters and the huge container ships. Children will love it when the boat continues into the Ho Bay and the Wadden Sea to see seals and birds. MS Fanø will take you on an exiting seal safari, where you will be told about the seals as you watch them in their right element. In summer, you can also sail with the small fishing cutter, El Claus Sørensen, and haul the seine besides getting a close view of the many small sea animals that live in the waters off Esbjerg.

Marbæk – beautiful nature throughout 1000 years
North of Hjerting Esbjerg offers you one of the country’s largest and most recreative nature areas, Marbæk Plantage. It is actually here that the Wadden Sea begins in Ho Bay, just off the estuary of Varde Å.
The Marbæk area has been inhabited by humans for thousands of years. Close to the river estuary, the Nature and Culture Presentation Centre Myrthuegård tells of the area’s fascinating history and of its rich animal life.

Fun for everybody
Esbjerg has many free play areas, however, it is a special experience to put on wellies and go exploring at Sædding Strand. Try catching a few crabs – or lug worms to go angling.

Count the steps
in the Water Tower, the old landmark of Esbjerg, and enjoy the splendid view of the harbour, the city as well as the four points of the compass..

Feel and smell art
Your creative children or grandchildren will find Esbjerg Art Museum worth a visit. Aestehetic laboratory, scent installation and other special activities will introduce children to the world of art in a merry way.
